A Children’s Habitat requires prospective families to either tour the school (via an open house or scheduled tour) or meet with the Head of School before applying. (childrens-habitat.org) After that, families apply online through TADS and pay a nonrefundable $50 application fee per child. (childrens-habitat.org) The priority application deadline for the next school year is January 31, and the school begins notifying families of admission decisions in March, though applications are accepted year-round on a rolling basis. (childrens-habitat.org) If a child is admitted but no seat is available, the school uses a wait pool; first preference in the wait pool goes to children of staff and to currently-enrolled and alumni families, then to the wider community. (childrens-habitat.org) Eligibility requirements include age cutoffs by program (e.g., toddlers must be at least 18 months by their first day), and primary (3–6) entrants must be fully toilet trained; some elementary applicants (or students entering the 3rd year of the 3–6 cycle) may be invited for a half-day visit.
