Powerful Systems, Inc., a Delaware corporation ("Chapter," "we," "us"), runs Chapter. This policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, and who we share it with. By using Chapter, you agree to this policy.
Chapter is for users in the United States. We store data in the United States.
1. Our Role
- Data in a consultant's practice: When a consultant or a family enters information into a consultant's practice, we hold it for the consultant. The consultant decides what to collect and how to use it. Send requests about this data to your consultant.
- All other data: We are responsible for account data, saved schools, and usage data.
2. What We Collect
Information you give us
- Name, email address, and sign-in details. If you sign in with Google, Google gives us your name and email address.
- Your account role: family, student, or a consultant's role in their practice.
- Saved schools and saved searches, including any addresses you enter.
- Information entered into a consultant's practice, including:
- Contact details for parents, guardians, and family members.
- Student details, such as name, date of birth, photo, grade, school, grades, test scores, activities, and interests.
- Learning needs, such as an IEP or a 504 Plan.
- School preferences, such as religion, budget, and financial aid needs.
- Notes, tasks, messages, emails, documents, contracts, and invoices.
Information we collect automatically
- Pages you visit, features you use, errors, browser and device type, and IP address.
- Recordings of how you use Chapter, including what appears on your screen. We use them to fix problems.
The student age screen
Before a student creates an account, we ask for birth month and year. We use the answer only to check that the student is at least 13. We do not store it. If the answer is under 13, we do not create an account, and a cookie blocks another try for 24 hours.
3. How We Use Information
We use information to:
- Run Chapter and provide its features.
- Send emails about your account, such as invitations, notifications, and invoices.
- Keep Chapter secure and fix problems.
- Understand how people use Chapter and improve it.
- Follow the law and enforce our Terms of Service.
We do not use personal information for advertising. We send no personal information to AI providers. We use AI only to generate school information from public sources.
4. Who We Share Information With
We do not sell personal information. We share it only:
- With people in your practice. A consultant and their team see their clients' information. Families see what their consultant shares with them.
- With anyone who has a payment or signing link. These links open without signing in.
- With service providers that help us run Chapter:

- When the law requires it, or to protect the rights and safety of Chapter, our users, or others.
- If our business changes hands, such as in a merger or sale. This policy continues to apply.
5. Cookies and Analytics
We use cookies to keep you signed in, remember your settings, and run the age screen. PostHog and Google Analytics also use cookies to collect usage information. These providers may collect information about your activity over time and across websites.
You can block cookies in your browser, but you cannot sign in without them. Chapter does not respond to Do Not Track signals.
6. How Long We Keep Information
We keep information while your account is open, or until you or your consultant delete it. We may keep some information longer to follow the law, settle disputes, or enforce our agreements.
7. Security
We protect information with encryption and access controls. No system is completely secure. If a breach affects your information, we will notify you as the law requires.
8. Children
- Chapter is not for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If we learn that we did, we will delete it.
- Consultants and parents may enter information about a child of any age. The consultant must have the parent's permission.
- A user under 18 may remove content they posted, such as a saved school, or ask us to remove it. Removal may not delete every copy.
9. Your Choices
- Remove saved schools at any time.
- Unsubscribe from notification emails with the link in any email.
- To see, correct, or delete your information, email support@withchapter.com. We may confirm your identity first. For information in a consultant's practice, contact your consultant.
10. Changes
We may change this policy. We will update the date at the top and tell account holders about important changes.
