Teaching Approach

Updated 7mo ago

International School of Indiana emphasizes a world-class, internationally minded education designed to prepare students to be responsible citizens and effective leaders in a globalizing, interdependent world. Their approach centers on International Baccalaureate (IB) learning—encouraging inquiry, critical thinking, and applying knowledge across disciplines—paired with language immersion/dual-language learning and cultural experiences. They also highlight small classes, personalized attention, and differentiated instruction to help students become confident, caring, multilingual communicators.

Admissions

Updated 7mo ago

International School of Indiana (ISI) applications are submitted online via ISI’s admissions platform/Parent Portal, where families complete the application and upload/track required checklist items (which vary by grade). (isind.org) For requirements, Pre-Elementary (3yo–K) does not submit school records or an essay, while other grades typically submit school records (sent directly from the current school); recommendations (1 for Pre-Elementary/Grades 1–5 and 2 for Grades 6–12); and Grades 6–12 also submit a 500-word student essay, then attend a required pre-entry visit (3yo–Grade 1) or shadow day (Grades 2–12), with interviews for Grades 6–12. (isind.org) ISI uses “priority status” deadlines each year—Nov 1 (admissions), Nov 15 (financial aid), Dec 15 (decision/aid notification), and Mar 1 (enrollment contract/deposit)—and after priority deadlines, applications/aid are reviewed on a rolling basis; decisions are typically sent about two weeks after the file is complete. (isind.org) If a grade level or language track is full, accepted applicants may be placed in a wait pool; openings can occur anytime but most often in March, June, and July, and families are notified by phone then email with limited time to accept (and may switch to another language track if space is available while remaining on the wait pool for their preferred track). (isind.org) Wait-pool selection/priority considerations can include factors such as gender balance, siblings already enrolled at ISI, socio-economic diversity, cultural diversity, and overall family match (in addition to meeting deadlines/space availability).
