East Elementary School (K–6) enrollment is handled through South Madison Community School Corporation (SMCSC): new-to-the-district families start by completing the online “REGISTER” form in PowerSchool (via arabiangrades.com), submitting one registration per child. After submission, the school office emails PowerSchool parent-portal access codes within about 5 business days, and families then contact the school to schedule an in-person appointment to complete registration. At that appointment, SMCSC lists required documents as: birth certificate, immunization records, TWO proofs of residency (a purchase agreement/mortgage statement/rental agreement AND a utility bill), a parent/guardian photo ID, and custody papers if applicable. For kindergarten, SMCSC encourages families to register if the child will be 5 by August 1 of the school year (with an early-entrance waiver option for some birthdays after August 1 and before October 1), and the site states 2025–26 kindergarten registration is open. For non-resident (out-of-district) admission for 2026–27, applications are accepted March 2–April 17, 2026 (with late applications considered through September 18, 2026 if space is available), and if requests exceed openings a lottery is scheduled for May 7, 2026 with notifications by May 11; the site does not describe a waitlist or additional priority categories beyond resident assignment and allowing currently accepted non-resident students in good standing to continue without reapplying.
