Teaching Approach

Updated 6mo ago

HudsonWay Immersion School describes its teaching philosophy as a supportive, highly personalized full-immersion model in Spanish or Mandarin, where students learn academic subjects in the target language from an early age to become biliterate and strong thinkers in both languages. The school says this approach is meant to support not just language growth, but also academic achievement, cognitive development, emotional intelligence, and global competence through differentiated instruction, small classes, and exposure to multiple worldviews. Admissions

Updated 6mo ago

For HudsonWay Immersion School’s New York City campus, families start by attending an admissions event or tour and then submitting the online NY application through the school’s admissions portal; after the application is complete, the student is invited for a campus visit and the parents are scheduled for a one-on-one interview with the principal. Required supplemental materials include items such as transcripts, teacher recommendations, and any relevant assessments, and applicants for kindergarten and above are also assessed during the visit in English, language arts, and math. (hwis.org) For the 2026-2027 NY cycle, the school lists these key dates: sibling and early-decision applications due November 14, 2025; early-decision notification December 12, 2025; general application deadline January 8, 2026; financial aid application due January 9, 2026; decision notifications on February 5, 2026 for kindergarten, February 11, 2026 for grade 1 and up, and February 26, 2026 for preschool; and the reply date is February 27, 2026. (hwis.org) The site says the main entry point is preschool ages 2-4; preschool applicants do not need prior exposure to the target language, and elementary applicants may be admitted without prior exposure, though extra tutoring support may be required. For NYC age-related requirements, the public tuition/admissions page also says the general cutoff date is September 30, children in the 2’s program must be 2 by September 30 (with limited exceptions for October 1-December 31 birthdays), and children do not need to be potty trained before admission. (hwis.org) HudsonWay says it offers rolling admissions after the deadline, space permitting, but I did not find a separate public admissions waitlist policy on the website. (hwis.org) The only explicit priority-related categories named on the public NY admissions page are sibling applicants and early-decision applicants, both of whom have an earlier application deadline; I did not find any additional published priority hierarchy beyond those categories.
