Teaching Approach

Updated 7mo ago

Watson Hall Montessori describes its teaching philosophy as a Montessori approach centered on nurturing each child’s internal locus of control through a carefully prepared environment. The school emphasizes developmentally appropriate freedom, allowing children to pursue self-directed interests and learn through natural exploration, while viewing the environment broadly as including the classroom, home, nature, and global society. Admissions

Updated 7mo ago

Watson Hall Montessori’s published process starts with a guardian-only tour, which the school says all prospective guardians are requested to complete before moving forward. (watsonhall.org) To apply, families submit the online application, a signed Tuition Agreement, and a non-refundable $75 application fee; the school says applications are accepted on a rolling basis. (watsonhall.org) After a completed application is received, the school schedules two student visits and assesses academic skills, independence, concentration, language, physical development, behavior, and readiness for the program. (watsonhall.org) Admission decisions are communicated as soon as possible by phone or email, and accepted families must sign an enrollment contract; contracts are offered only on a space-available basis, and the website also says applications are handled first-come, first-served. (watsonhall.org) I did not find a published waitlist policy, formal priority categories (such as sibling or staff preference), or a current admissions deadline/calendar on the website; the only additional posted enrollment requirements I found were a Health Inventory form and Maryland-required health/immunization documentation before attendance.
