Morningside PlayCare describes its philosophy as a play-based, child-centered, multilingual approach in which children naturally acquire Mandarin and Spanish through play, song, walks, exploration, and caring relationships rather than formal lessons. Its curriculum is nature-based and yoga-infused, drawing on Waldorf and Flying Deer influences to build curiosity, resilience, self-regulation, social-emotional growth, and a holistic connection to the world.

On its admissions page, Morningside PlayCare says families can optionally attend an open house or request a quick tour, then submit an application or preliminary form; it lists a $50 fee for an in-person application. (morningsideplaycare.com) After applying, the family is scheduled for a classroom playdate/interview with parent and child, and admitted families must return an enrollment agreement with a 10% tuition deposit and later submit pediatric medical and registration forms. (morningsideplaycare.com) The page says applications completed by December 15 are Early Decision with decisions in December, applications received by February 1 get a decision by February 15, later applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, and families seeking financial aid should apply as early as possible—ideally by January 15—and submit the aid application within five days of the admissions application. (morningsideplaycare.com) The school says it maintains a waitlist when needed and that some families may be wait-listed if a child is younger than the seats available. (morningsideplaycare.com) For selection, it says it looks for a strong family-program match and community participation, and for PreK 4 specifically it encourages applying by November for the following school year, with priority given to children already enrolled in its Threes class and to Mandarin and Spanish speakers. Our In-Person After School program is for PreK through 2nd grade children who already have some previous exposure to Mandarin or Spanish. These children spend 2 – 3 hours per day receiving language exposure and direct instruction that focuses on reading and writing and creating art in the target language. Depending upon their level, their curriculum parallels the PreK, Kindergarten, First or Second grade curriculum for native speakers. Pick-up from English school may be available for some children.
