Teaching Approach

Updated 7mo ago

Legacy Learning Center describes a student-centered approach aimed at helping every student thrive, emphasizing personalized learning along with leadership development, equity, and meaningful family/community partnership. Academically, it follows Indiana Department of Education standards while intentionally integrating ethical, cultural, and spiritual perspectives into lessons, and it states it does not “teach to the test.”

Admissions

Updated 7mo ago

Families apply by submitting Legacy Learning Center’s enrollment application (downloadable from the site or via the online form) along with a non‑refundable application fee ($100 per new student; $50 per returning student). Required items include current immunization records, a birth certificate, signed medical authorization, and additional school forms (e.g., K–12 internet form and home language survey), and new applications should also include the student’s current report card, most recent standardized test scores, and (if applicable) behavioral records. For grades 1–8 and incoming freshmen, students may be scheduled for placement/achievement testing, and grades 5–12 require an admission interview with the principal and an admissions committee representative; transfer students in grades 1+ must send prior school records and complete placement testing before acceptance is determined. Admission decisions are based on fit with the school’s mission, the student’s desire to attend, the student’s needs, and space/school capacity, and the school notes it may decline admission based on non‑payment, academic performance, or disciplinary issues. Key dates/policies noted include an August 1 age cutoff for Pre‑K/Kindergarten eligibility and a May 1 priority window for current families enrolling a sibling; the site does not describe a formal waitlist, instead indicating applications are processed largely by date received (after current-family re‑enrollment/new-sibling deadlines) and that a commitment fee plus a signed enrollment contract are required to reserve a classroom spot.
