Teaching Approach

Updated 7mo ago

Swanson emphasizes strong academics alongside character development, aiming to empower students with the skills and character to succeed and prepare graduates with 21st-century skills and positive character traits. Instruction and student services are organized within Jeffco’s Multi-Tiered Systems of Supports (MTSS) framework to provide academic, social-emotional, and behavioral supports so each student gets what they need to be successful.

Swanson Elementary uses Jeffco’s districtwide EnrollJeffco system to enroll in your neighborhood school (if Swanson is your assigned school) or to submit a choice-enrollment request if you live outside the boundary. (swanson.jeffcopublicschools.org) For the 2026–27 school year, Round 1 ran December 2, 2025–January 9, 2026, with results sent January 20, 2026; Round 2 opened January 15, 2026 and runs through August 28, 2026. (swanson.jeffcopublicschools.org) Round 1 applications go into a lottery and the submission time during Round 1 does not affect priority; Round 2 applications are offered seats or placed on waitlists at the bottom of the applicable priority group in the order received. (jeffcopublicschools.org) Offers and waitlist updates are communicated by email/text, families generally have three days to accept an offer, and accepting one offer does not remove your student from other school waitlists. (jeffcopublicschools.org) After accepting an offer (or confirming your seat), new students must upload required documents in EnrollJeffco (parent/guardian photo ID, proof of student identity such as a birth certificate/passport, immunization records, and proof of address) and then complete household registration; kindergarten eligibility includes being age 5 by Oct. 1. (jeffcopublicschools.org) If Swanson is full, choice applicants are prioritized using Jeffco’s choice-enrollment priority categories (including, in order, Jeffco residents with a currently attending sibling, children of full-time staff, certain feeder/preschool priorities, then other Jeffco residents, followed by non-resident sibling/feeder priorities and then other non-residents), and remaining applicants are waitlisted until space opens.
