Teaching Approach

Updated 3w ago

Saddle River Day School pairs a rigorous curriculum with small classes and close teacher-student relationships, allowing teachers to challenge and support each child as an individual. Its teaching emphasizes curiosity, hands-on problem-solving, interdisciplinary learning, and intellectual risk-taking in a nurturing environment, with the aim of developing both academic excellence and caring, ethical character. Admissions

Updated 3w ago

For fall 2027, families apply online through Saddle River Day School’s admissions portal; they can first submit an inquiry or contact the admissions office for guidance. (saddleriverday.org) Early admission is available for grades 4–12: applications are due December 1, 2026, decisions are expected by December 7, and accepted families must enroll by December 16. (saddleriverday.org) Regular applications are due January 5, 2027, for Pre-K and kindergarten and January 20, 2027, for grades 1–12; decisions are expected in the second week of February, with families given until the end of February to respond. (saddleriverday.org) Pre-K and kindergarten applicants need a teacher recommendation and school screening, while grades 1–4 need a teacher recommendation, records and test results, plus a class visit and assessment. (saddleriverday.org) Grades 5–12 need administrator and math and English teacher recommendations, records and test results, and an interview; entrance tests for grades 6–12 are optional. (saddleriverday.org) After the regular deadline, applications are reviewed on a rolling basis until each grade fills; the school does not publish a waitlist procedure or priority categories such as sibling preference, though it says early admission offers a guaranteed class spot to families who enroll.
