Teaching Approach

Updated 6mo ago

The Galloway School describes its teaching philosophy as mission-driven, holistic, and centered on joyful, student-focused learning. It emphasizes inquiry, experiential learning, meaningful relationships, and innovative teaching methods, while guiding students through five core aims: cultivating knowledge and skills, encouraging self-discovery, developing cultural competence, embracing challenges, and inspiring joyful learning. Admissions

Galloway directs families to apply online through Ravenna, where they can create an account, submit the application, register for events, and track status; the school’s admissions page says the 2026-27 application is now closed, but interested families may contact admissions about a late application. (gallowayschool.org) The published 2026-27 timeline shows the application opened October 1, 2025, applications were due January 31, 2026, supporting documents were due February 13, 2026, Pre-K early decisions were released February 4, 2026, all decisions are scheduled for April 4, 2026, and enrollment deposits are due February 11, 2026 for Pre-K early decision or April 14, 2026 for the main round. (gallowayschool.org) Requirements vary by grade, but generally include the shared applicant form, a Galloway supplemental form, a parent/guardian statement, school evaluations, transcripts/report cards, and either observations or interviews; testing is not required for Pre-K, JATP is required for K-5, and SSAT is typically required for grades 6-12, with some substitute testing accepted. (gallowayschool.org) After applying, students also complete a campus-based evaluation step: Kindergarten and above attend Saturday observation sessions on January 24 or February 7, 2026, rising Pre-K3/Pre-K4 choose January or February observation options, and applicants to grades 9-12 participate in a student interview; optional parent conversations are available and do not affect admission decisions. (gallowayschool.org) I did not find a publicly posted waitlist policy on Galloway’s admissions pages, but the FAQ says late applications are handled case by case and usually only after timely applications are reviewed; the school also says it gives special consideration to siblings of current students, children of alumni, and children of faculty/staff, while emphasizing that the student’s fit at Galloway is the ultimate deciding factor.
