Lantern Road Elementary (Hamilton Southeastern Schools) primarily enrolls students who live within the district and are assigned to the school by home address; families use the district’s “Find Your School” boundary map, then complete online enrollment in Skyward (new families request a temporary Skyward account; existing families start “New Student Online Enrollment” in Family Access). Required documents generally include a state-issued birth certificate, parent/guardian photo ID, custody/guardianship paperwork if applicable, three proofs of residency, and current immunization records (documents can be uploaded online or scanned at the school if needed). HSE accepts enrollment throughout the school year (no strict deadline), but recommends enrolling as early as possible; for 2026–2027, kindergarten requires a child to be age 5 by August 1, 2026, and early-entrance requests for kindergarten/first grade run February 1, 2026 through August 1, 2026. Families outside district boundaries must apply via the 2026–2027 non-resident transfer process (open as of February 27, 2026): submit a complete application by April 17, 2026 for priority consideration, with rolling acceptance until January 15, 2027 and status notifications on or before May 8, 2026 for applications submitted February 27–April 17. Non-resident approvals depend on eligibility (Indiana residency plus attendance/discipline conditions) and school/grade capacity; applicants not selected due to capacity are placed on a waitlist, and a separate priority pathway exists for children of HSE employees via an employee placement request due January 30, 2026 with notification on or before February 27, 2026.
