Teaching Approach

Updated 8mo ago

Youth For Tomorrow emphasizes a stable, supportive learning environment for at-risk students (grades 7–12), using committed teachers, small class sizes, and on-campus enrichment supports like tutoring and clinical therapy. Their educational philosophy stresses a broad base of knowledge for success in society, the equal importance of spiritual and intellectual development, and the value of hard work. They also aim to foster self-discipline, independence, creativity, and curiosity while meeting students where they are academically (including special education supports and pathways to a diploma or GED).

Admissions

Updated 8mo ago

Youth For Tomorrow’s Bristow campus private secondary school (grades 7–12) uses rolling admissions, so students may enroll at any time of year; families/referring professionals are directed to call for information (703-368-7995). (youthfortomorrow.org) Applications for the associated residential/education placement are handled through the Admissions Office: complete the required admissions application/forms (they instruct you to print, complete, then fax or mail), after which the Admissions Team reviews the file for appropriateness and schedules an interview if the applicant is a candidate. (youthfortomorrow.org) Key steps/dates are process-based rather than calendar-based: (1) file review once all required items are received, (2) interview with the youth and parent/legal guardian and/or placing agency/probation, (3) an intake date set based on availability and meeting criteria. (youthfortomorrow.org) Requirements described include being within the program’s licensed age range (noted as 12–17) and submitting documentation such as school records (including IEP/evaluations if applicable) and a psychological evaluation within 1 year when available, with additional intake documents like birth certificate, Social Security card, insurance proof, and immunization records. (youthfortomorrow.org) The website/application does not describe a formal waitlist or stated priority order; it only notes that intake scheduling depends on availability, and it notes populations the broader residential program serves (e.g., pregnant/parenting teens and victims of sexual exploitation/sex trafficking).
