Teaching Approach

Updated 8mo ago

Loudoun School for Advanced Studies emphasizes small classes and close teacher mentoring to create individualized, flexible learning paths, including teacher-designed and seminar-style courses. Their approach is discussion- and inquiry-driven, encouraging students to ask questions, explore interests, and tackle real-world problems in a supportive community where student voice and belonging are prioritized.

Admissions

Updated 8mo ago

LSAS asks families to begin by scheduling a campus tour (they also offer “Tour Tuesdays” during the school year, Tuesdays 9:00–10:00 AM, with limited space and RSVP by email). (loudounschool.org) Applicants then complete an online admissions application and submit report cards, teacher recommendation letters, and standardized testing results (accepted tests listed include WISC-V, Stanford-Binet, Woodcock-Johnson Cognitive, CogAT, NNAT, PSAT, SSAT, or SAT). (loudounschool.org) If standardized test results are not provided, LSAS says it will administer an assessment during an “LSAS experience day,” and prospective students also spend a day on campus as part of the process. (loudounschool.org) The website does not list admissions deadlines/key decision dates beyond the standing Tour Tuesday time, and it does not describe a waitlist process or any admissions priority categories. (loudounschool.org) The tuition page notes there is currently no application fee (but there is a separate non-refundable enrollment/re-enrollment fee due at registration). (loudounschool.org)
