Hortons Creek Elementary is a Wake County Public School System (WCPSS) base school, meaning students are assigned based on their Wake County home address; families start by completing WCPSS online enrollment for their base school and then finish enrollment with the school. (wcpss.net) To complete enrollment, families should be prepared to present (even if uploaded) a certified/original birth certificate, proof of Wake County address (e.g., recent utility bill, lease, or settlement statement), a parent/legal custodian photo ID, immunization records, and any custody documents; students new to NC public schools must also provide an NC health assessment. (sites.google.com) Key district dates (for the 2026-27 cycle shown on WCPSS) include: pre-registration opening October 15, 2025; initial assignment notifications December 15–17, 2025; and the transfer application window March 2–13, 2026. (wcpss.net) Hortons Creek Elementary has an enrollment cap (cap date: January 22, 2019), so after you finish enrollment you may be assigned to an overflow school and placed on the waitlist for Hortons Creek if no seat is available. (wcpss.net) Waitlist rules include removal if the student leaves WCPSS or moves out of the base area, and if a seat opens the capped school may call during a mid-year period (end of second quarter) or during the summer with different consequences for declining (summer declines remove the student from the waitlist and end bus service). (wcpss.net) Priority/eligibility categories noted for capped schools include (among others) rising kindergarteners who lived in the base area before the cap date (and who should pre-enroll before March 1 to avoid overflow) and children of full-time WCPSS employees who work at the capped school, and capped-school enrollment requires proof you are currently living in the home and how long you have lived there. YMCA After School programs prepare children to be problem solvers by providing them with the skills needed to manage their emotions and show empathy toward others. Each day, we offer a variety of activities that allow your children to build new skills and healthy habits. Our curriculum supports learning through active play and a focus on character development. We offer quiet spaces and support for students to work on their homework Monday through Thursday afternoons. During the week, students will participate in a variety of enrichment activities with opportunities for skill development, physical activity and fun.
