Teaching Approach

Updated 3mo ago

River Oaks Baptist School describes its approach as academically ambitious and grounded in Christian faith, with intellect, character, and faith treated as inseparable parts of a child’s development. Its curriculum is designed around how children learn best, combining rigorous instruction with joyful discovery, critical thinking, creative expression, high expectations, and developmental support. The school emphasizes whole-child growth through research-based curriculum, social-emotional learning, differentiated instruction, real-world problem solving, collaboration, leadership, and purpose-driven learning.

Admissions

Updated 3mo ago

As of July 14, 2026, River Oaks Baptist School says applications for 2026-27 are closed; families should submit an inquiry form, while visit/admission-event information for the next cycle is expected in early August 2026, and the FAQ says applications normally open each August with a December 10 deadline. (robs.org) (robs.org) (robs.org) The school describes a holistic, developmentally appropriate admission process and evaluates academic readiness/performance, personal qualities, and mission alignment using items such as applicant visit/interview, grades, rigor/current school curriculum, standardized tests, teacher recommendations, essays, parent interview, and parent questionnaire. (robs.org) Age requirements include Readiness: age 3 by September 1 and not 4 before June 1 plus toilet trained; PreK: age 4 by September 1 and not 5 before June 1; and Kindergarten: age 5 by September 1 and not 6 before June 1, with exceptions considered case by case. (robs.org) Typical openings are 48 for Readiness, 24 for PreK, about 20-24 or 25 for Kindergarten, about 2-5 in grades 1-5/1-4 depending on attrition, 5-8 in grade 6, and up to 2 or about 2-4 in grades 7-8/other middle-school attrition years. (robs.org) Testing requirements include WPPSI/WISC for PreK-grade 4 and ISEE for grades 5-8; after March offers, ROBS creates an unnumbered wait pool, admits from it only if spaces open, and requires families to reapply in a new admission year. (robs.org) Priority/special-consideration categories are children of River Oaks Baptist Church members, faculty/staff, alumni, current families, and returning students, but ROBS says affiliated applicants are not guaranteed admission and must meet all qualifications.
