Montessori School of Raleigh describes its teaching philosophy as a student-centered Montessori approach, where children learn through guided and self-directed exploration, hands-on experiences, and real-life engagement. The school emphasizes developmentally appropriate learning environments, mixed-age cycles, and comprehensive assessment to help students grow into independent thinkers, effective communicators, and collaborative community members.

MSR says families should start by submitting an inquiry form, then visit through an open house, group tour, or private tour before completing the application. Applications are considered complete only when the Enrollment Office has received the application, fee, and supporting documentation. (msr.org) For applicants to Grades 3-6, MSR requires the ISEE, and all applicants go through an interview/assessment; Toddler and Children’s House applicants meet individually with a faculty member, while Lower and Upper Elementary applicants attend a half-day student visit and parents meet with the Admissions Committee. (msr.org) The website lists January 13 as the first-consideration deadline, with first-consideration notifications on February 13 for Toddler through Kindergarten and February 27 for Grades 1-6; outside that cycle, admissions are handled on a rolling basis as space becomes available. (msr.org) MSR also publishes a records-release form asking a current school to send the applicant’s school record, a confidential teacher evaluation, and any psychological or specialized testing results to the admission office. (msr.org) I did not find any publicly posted waitlist procedure or any explicit admissions priority categories (such as sibling or legacy preference) on the MSR admissions pages I reviewed; the site instead tells families to contact admissions to check available openings. Auxiliary after-school care for Toddler through Upper Elementary. MSR says space may be limited, spots are filled first-come, first-served, and a waitlist is used if full. Drop-in care is not available. Families can add care for certain days each week, but it must be scheduled for at least one semester.
