Teaching Approach

Updated 6mo ago

The school’s website describes an approach centered on a rigorous, college-preparatory curriculum designed to develop globally competitive leaders. It also emphasizes preparing students for future academic and career pathways, with a vision that scholars become globally conscious, college- and career-ready "STEMinists," reflecting a strong focus on leadership, global awareness, and STEM readiness. Admissions

Updated 6mo ago

Coretta Scott King Young Women’s Leadership Academy’s own admissions page still shows a 2025–2026 School Choice window of December 10, 2024 through January 30, 2025 via the APS SchoolMint portal, but APS’s current district transfer page is the better source for SY2026–2027 and lists CSKYWLA as a single-gender female school accepting out-of-zone applications for grades 6–8 and grade 9 through SchoolMint from January 12, 2026 to January 30, 2026. (cskywla.atlantapublicschools.us) Families may apply to any number of open schools, and the transfer application requires proof of residency; APS says applicants must submit photo ID plus residency documents such as a deed or mortgage statement or lease/rental agreement and a current Georgia Power bill, with extra supporting documents for other living situations. (atlantapublicschools.us) After getting a seat offer, families accept or decline in SchoolMint and complete registration; the school’s CSK-specific instructions say registration should include residency documents, state ID, and student vital records such as a birth certificate, Social Security card or waiver, immunization record, and Georgia Form 3300. (atlantapublicschools.us) If applications exceed available seats, APS uses a random lottery, with schools requiring lotteries posted February 13, 2026, lottery results posted February 20, 2026, and seat offers beginning February 27, 2026; students not selected are placed on an ordered waitlist, and if a family declines or misses the 5-day response window, APS offers the seat to the next student on the list. (atlantapublicschools.us) Priority appears to work in two layers: APS handbook materials say girls living in the Boyd, KIPP Woodson Park/Grove Park, Scott, and F.L. Stanton attendance zones have first preference to opt into CSKYWLA, and APS also says resident applicants are considered before out-of-district applicants, while out-of-district students may attend only if space is available and tuition is paid; APS’s FAQ also says siblings do not receive automatic transfer priority.
