Indy STEAM Academy emphasizes integrated STEAM instruction that uses design- and inquiry-based processes (investigating, planning, problem-solving, creating, evaluating, reflecting, and retooling) so students “learn by doing” while solving real-world challenges. They pair hands-on projects in science and engineering with arts-based expression to support the “whole child,” while also building a strong literacy (and core academic) foundation. The program is positioned to prepare students for high school, college, and 21st-century careers, including exposure to STEM pathways through industry visits, job shadowing, and internships.

Indy STEAM Academy says it is transitioning to a tuition-based non-public school and is accepting applications for students in grades K–8 for the 2026–27 school year. (indysteamacademy.org) To apply, families start by submitting a letter of interest through the “Enroll Now” tab (an online form) with parent contact information, address, the student’s name, and the grade the child will enter in the fall; the school says an administrator will then contact the parent to schedule a visit and complete the rest of the application process. (indysteamacademy.org) The school states it will begin the enrollment/application process on March 1 for the 2026–27 school year. (indysteamacademy.org) The website says applications are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis for families living in Marion County and surrounding townships/suburban communities, and it lists considerations such as previous academic performance, proficiency levels, interest in STEAM, discipline, and attendance. (indysteamacademy.org) The site encourages families to apply for Indiana Choice Scholarship and/or financial aid to help pay tuition, but it does not describe a lottery, a formal waitlist process, or any explicit priority categories (such as sibling or staff preferences).
