Lick-Wilmerding High School describes its teaching approach as developing students’ “head, heart, and hands” through a rigorous, integrated curriculum spanning liberal arts, sciences, and technical, visual, and performing arts. It emphasizes collaboration, problem solving, resilience, and learning from mistakes, while connecting classroom learning to civic engagement, real-world problem solving, and service beyond school. Lick-Wilmerding says applicants begin in Ravenna by creating an account, completing the intake form, submitting the parent/guardian application and $100 fee, registering for a required Cub Conversation, and then completing the student application and activity form. (lwhs.org) Required materials include a principal/counselor recommendation, 8th-grade English and math teacher recommendations, and 7th- and 8th-grade transcripts; LWHS is test-free, and shadow visits/Open House are optional. (lwhs.org) For Fall 2026, the process opens August 20, 2025, event registration opens August 27, 2025, most application components are due January 8, 2026, transcripts are due January 23, 2026, decisions are mailed March 19, 2026 and posted in Ravenna March 20, 2026, with enrollment agreements due March 26-27, 2026 depending on tuition status. (lwhs.org) If a student is placed in the waiting pool, they may remain or forfeit their spot; LWHS says waitpool students are usually notified in late March or early April if space opens, and the school typically does not take many students from the waiting pool. (lwhs.org) On priority categories, LWHS says sibling and legacy relationships are valued but do not guarantee admission; the committee uses a holistic review and also shapes a class across diversity factors such as gender, socioeconomic status, race, ethnicity, geography, and co-curricular interests.
