Teaching Approach

Updated 7mo ago

Gateway Montessori describes its approach as Montessori-based and child-centered, aimed at supporting the natural unfolding of each child’s physical, intellectual, and social potential. The school emphasizes freedom within community limits, responsibility, independence, respect, and a strong love of learning, with teachers serving more as guides who prepare the environment and help children learn through purposeful activity.

Admissions

Updated 7mo ago

Gateway Montessori asks prospective families to start by attending an informational tour before applying; during the school year, tours are held on select First Mondays at 4:00 p.m. with sign-up by phone or email, and the currently posted upcoming tour dates are March 2, April 6, and May 4, 2026. (gatewaymontessorischool.org) After visiting, families submit the online Application for Admission plus a non-refundable $50 application fee; paper forms are available on request, applications are accepted year-round, and families are asked to provide the child’s age and intended start date when joining a tour list. (gatewaymontessorischool.org) Key timing posted by the school is that returning students’ re-enrollment contracts are generally due in March, new family applications for the following school year are reviewed in received order beginning in late March, and admissions decisions are typically issued from mid-March through early May, while current-year openings are handled case by case. (gatewaymontessorischool.org) If admitted, the family has two weeks to return the signed enrollment agreement, tuition deposit, and a one-time family entrance fee to hold the seat. (gatewaymontessorischool.org) Priority categories the school explicitly names are siblings of currently enrolled children, children with previous Montessori experience, and currently enrolled Gateway families who get priority sign-up each March for the next school year; however, the waitlist itself is not ranked in order, and families are contacted based on classroom age and gender diversity needs, with current-year waitlisted families contacted first for the next year if space opens.
