Teaching Approach

Updated 8mo ago

Madeira describes learning as active and experiential—joyful and personal—guided by caring expert teachers and happening in many settings beyond the classroom (e.g., athletics, residential life, and real-world experiences like internships). They emphasize an intentionally designed, innovative, ambitious, girl-centered curriculum that builds critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving while helping students understand their changing world and participate confidently through leadership and service.

Admissions

Updated 8mo ago

Madeira asks families to start by submitting an inquiry and creating an account in Ravenna (their admissions portal), then completing the application there for entry to grades 9–11 (they note they do not accept applications for grade 12). (madeira.org) Applicants typically visit campus and interview (in-person or via Zoom) between October and mid-January, and the full application file is due January 15 (including student/parent statements, teacher and counselor recommendations, and current plus prior two years of transcripts/school reports). (madeira.org) Standardized testing is required (with several accepted options by grade), and non-native English speakers must submit English proficiency results (TOEFL or Duolingo). (madeira.org) For the 2025–2026 cycle, Madeira lists decision notifications as February 27, 2026 (day) and March 1, 2026 (boarding), with enrollment agreements/deposits due March 13, 2026 at noon (day) and April 10, 2026 at noon (boarding); they also note late applicants may be considered as space allows, with opportunities/resources more limited after mid-April. (madeira.org) Financial aid is optional and processed via Clarity, with a January 15 deadline for new-family financial aid applications. (madeira.org) Madeira’s publicly posted admissions pages do not describe a formal waitlist process or any explicit priority/preference categories (e.g., sibling/legacy), so families would need to contact the admissions office directly for those policies and current availability. Available
3:00 pm – 5:30 pm
$235/week or $65/day

Madeira lists an “Extended Day” option (after-camp care) for Camp Greenway day campers. Caregivers may pick up anytime within the extended-day window; programming includes a snack, games, crafts, and one extra swim block per week. A late fee of $25/camper applies if pickup is after 5:30 pm (late fees then increase based on pickup time). Note: this is described on Madeira’s Camp Greenway (summer program) page, not as an academic-year after-school care program for Madeira students.
