Teaching Approach

Updated 6mo ago

The Benjamin School describes its approach as a challenging college-preparatory education delivered in a structured, nurturing community that helps students master learning, communication, and thoughtful decision-making. It emphasizes whole-child development—intellectual, social, moral, aesthetic, and physical growth—while promoting values such as love of learning, personal responsibility, self-motivation, concern for others, and service; the site also highlights experiential and project-based learning, including STEM across all divisions. Admissions

Updated 6mo ago

For admission to The Benjamin School for 2026–2027, families are encouraged to start with an inquiry or campus tour, then submit the online application with a $100 fee; applications opened August 13, 2025, tours began September 1, 2025, and fall open houses are listed for October 10, October 24, and November 7, 2025. (thebenjaminschool.org) The main deadlines are December 1, 2025 for the application, January 15, 2026 for the completed file and supporting documents, and January 31, 2026 for admission decisions; applications submitted after December 1 are reviewed on a rolling basis if space is available. (thebenjaminschool.org) Requirements vary by grade, but lower-school applicants generally submit a birth certificate, teacher recommendation, school/administrator statement, parent interview, and academic readiness assessment, while grades 6-11 also need teacher recommendations, an administrator statement/recommendation, an in-person student interview, and standardized testing such as the ISEE, SSAT, ERB CTP, PSAT, or SAT depending on grade. (thebenjaminschool.org) The school says it does maintain a waitlist because it receives more applications than available spaces, and some waitlisted applicants may be admitted if openings occur. (thebenjaminschool.org) I did not find a published list of formal admissions priority categories on the admissions pages reviewed; the site separately identifies legacy families, and for financial assistance it says priority is given to returning families, with new families receiving priority status for aid if they meet the February 15 deadline.
