Teaching Approach

Updated 7mo ago

Greenspring Montessori School describes its approach as an individualized Montessori education in which each child receives lessons when they are ready, works at their own pace, and learns in multi-age classrooms that encourage mentorship and aspiration among peers. The school emphasizes hands-on materials, intrinsic motivation, research and exploration, regular outdoor learning, and strong community involvement, with a stated mission of "igniting purpose and voice in a fully engaged learning community." Admissions

Updated 7mo ago

Greenspring says admissions start by registering for a required Information Session and then a required Observation Morning; at least one parent or guardian must attend both before applying, and the school is now enrolling for the 2026-27 year. (greenspringmontessori.org) After the Information Session, families receive an application link and submit a $75 non-refundable fee; the process then includes school records, recommendations and relevant evaluations, a parent interview, and for children over age 4, a classroom visit, with families also asked to disclose prior academic, social, behavioral, or related challenges and provide testing/IEP documents if applicable. (greenspringmontessori.org) For the current cycle, Greenspring lists Early Childhood Information Sessions on March 31, May 5, and July 8, 2026 with Observation Mornings on April 9, May 14, and July 15, 2026, while Elementary/Adolescent events are on April 2 and April 10, 2026. (greenspringmontessori.org) Admission decisions for 2026-27 began on February 19, 2026 and then move to rolling admissions until programs fill; accepted families get an online enrollment link and typically must complete enrollment within one to two weeks. (greenspringmontessori.org) If space is unavailable, applicants may be placed in a waiting pool at the family's request, and Greenspring says priority goes first to returning students through the February re-enrollment deadline, then to siblings, former Montessori families, staff children, and children transferring from other Montessori schools.
