Brooklyn Friends School describes its approach as a Quaker, values-driven education that combines academic excellence with moral, social, and intellectual growth. It emphasizes respect for the worth of every person, critical thinking, peaceful community, and character formation, while aiming to nurture a lifelong love of learning and help students apply their knowledge with leadership and service in and beyond the classroom. Admissions

Updated 6mo ago

Brooklyn Friends School says families should start by creating a Ravenna account, submitting a preliminary application, and scheduling a visit, then follow the grade-level admissions page for the remaining steps. (brooklynfriends.org) For the 2026-2027 school year, the preliminary application deadline is November 21, 2025, most final materials are due January 8, 2026, and decision/reply dates vary by division—for example, Kindergarten decisions come out February 5, 2026, Upper School on February 20, 2026, and Early Childhood on February 26, 2026. (brooklynfriends.org) Requirements vary by grade: Early Childhood uses parent interviews and child videos (with playgroups/school reports for some applicants), K-1 requires a school report plus applicant visit and parent interview, grades 2-8 require records and teacher forms along with visits/interviews, and Upper School also requires SSAT or ISEE scores, essays, and an activity/interest form. (brooklynfriends.org) Priority categories for legacy consideration include siblings, children of alumni, children of current faculty/staff, and Quaker families; members of the New York Quarterly Meeting may receive early notification, with other Quaker meetings prioritized after them. (brooklynfriends.org) I did not find a published admissions waitlist policy on the BFS admissions pages I reviewed. (brooklynfriends.org)
