Parkside Elementary is a Wake County Public School System (WCPSS) base school; to enroll, families find the assigned base school by address, complete the online enrollment, then finish registration with the base school by providing a certified birth certificate, proof of Wake County address, parent/legal custodian photo ID, immunization record, and (if applicable) custody documents, plus required immunizations/NC health assessment. (wcpss.net) If you are trying to attend Parkside on its year-round calendar (or request a year-round seat), the student must be enrolled in WCPSS first (to obtain an active student ID) and then apply during the Choice Application Window (for 2026–27: Oct. 15, 2025–Jan. 22, 2026; results posted Feb. 19, 2026). (wcpss.net) Year-round applications are prioritized (e.g., entering-grade siblings, matching calendars for siblings, applicants from low socioeconomic areas, certain continuing year-round students, and students assigned to a crowded school), with a portion of seats filled by lottery; applicants not initially selected may be placed into a non-numeric “applicant pool” (waiting list) for their first-choice year-round school. (wcpss.net) Parkside is also listed as a capped school (cap date Feb. 1, 2022; uncapping July 1, 2026), meaning even base-assigned families must still register at Parkside, but if it is full they may be enrolled at an overflow school (with district transportation) while being placed on the Parkside waitlist. (wcpss.net) For capped-school waitlists, students must already be enrolled in WCPSS to be on the waitlist and may be removed if they leave WCPSS or move out of the base area; if called for an opening, rules differ for mid-year vs. summer offers, and capped-school eligibility/priority categories include (among others) rising kindergarteners who lived in the base area before the cap date (with pre-enrollment before March 1) and children of full-time WCPSS employees who work at the capped school.
