Admissions

Baucom Elementary admissions are handled through Wake County Public School System (WCPSS): families first use the WCPSS address lookup to confirm Baucom as the student’s base school, complete the online enrollment form, then bring required enrollment materials to the base school when contacted. Required items typically include a certified birth certificate, proof of Wake County domicile (e.g., recent utility bill/lease/settlement statement with timing rules), parent/guardian photo ID, immunization record, and any custody documents; North Carolina also requires a health assessment within 12 months of starting school and required vaccinations (including for kindergarten). Key dates for the 2026–27 cycle include kindergarten pre-registration opening October 15, 2025; magnet/year-round choice applications October 15, 2025–January 22, 2026; results notification February 19, 2026; and the transfer/second-round window March 2–13, 2026. Baucom is not listed among WCPSS capped schools, but if a base school is capped/full, WCPSS may place the student in an overflow school (with bus service) and add them to the capped school waitlist; if a seat opens, families may be called mid-year or in summer with different rules about keeping bus service and remaining on the waitlist, and students are removed if they leave WCPSS or move out of the base area. Priority categories are primarily address-based for base-school enrollment; for capped schools, certain groups may still be eligible (e.g., rising kindergarteners who lived in the base area before the cap date and pre-enroll before March 1, and children of full-time WCPSS employees at the capped school), while choice (magnet/year-round) placements use priority rules such as guaranteed sibling priority for year-round requests and magnet priorities based on the socioeconomic status of the student’s assigned school and home area.
