Teaching Approach

Updated 8mo ago

St. Mary’s High School emphasizes forming the “whole child”—mind, body, and spirit—within a nurturing Catholic, college-preparatory environment that encourages students to take risks, try new experiences, and develop their God-given gifts. Guided by its Redemptorist roots and the School Sisters of Notre Dame charism, the school aims to develop students into servant leaders through academic, social, physical, and spiritual formation, with faculty focused on supporting each student as an individual to reach their full potential.

Admissions

Updated 8mo ago

To apply, families submit the online application (via the school’s “Apply to St. Mary’s” portal) and ensure the student completes the High School Placement Test (HSPT), plus a transcript covering three consecutive years (additional years may be requested) and two core-teacher recommendations; optional coach/mentor letters and additional placement testing/writing samples may also be requested. Applications are reviewed once the admissions file is complete by an admissions review committee. For the 2025–2026 cycle shown on the site, HSPT registration and the online application open in September 2025, the HSPT is scheduled for November 22, 2025, and the application/supporting-documents deadline is December 10, 2025 (scholarship applications are also due December 10, 2025, and financial aid applications are due December 31, 2025). The timeline lists “Admissions decisions mailed” on February 18, 2025 (as written on their posted timeline) and notes open houses on October 25, 2025 and October 28, 2025. The high-school admissions pages do not describe a waitlist or any priority/preference admission categories; transfer applications are accepted on a rolling basis in spring through August 30, or for January semester no later than January 1, and mid-semester transfers are not accepted.

St. Mary’s Elementary School offers an After School Care (ASC) program for students (grades PreK-8). It operates on a drop-in basis for students registered for the ASC program. PreK-3 students are escorted to ASC rooms; grades 4-8 report to ASC at dismissal. Attendance is tracked via Brightwheel; parents provide a snack; students may start homework, play outside (weather permitting), or play games inside. Pickup uses the Brightwheel app and QR code scan system; late pickup after 5:30 p.m. incurs additional charges.
