Woodside Learning Center’s teaching approach is centered on reengaging incarcerated youth in school by intervening in their academic progress, interrupting negative behavior patterns, and providing a safe, predictable, judgment-free environment that still maintains academic rigor. The school emphasizes differentiated instruction for students with widely varying needs, including different reading levels, IEPs, and English learner needs, while also supporting students through community-based programming, tutoring, and restorative opportunities to help them reconnect with learning.
