Teaching Approach

Updated 6mo ago

Rodeph Sholom School describes its teaching approach as student-centered and intellectually exploratory, aiming to develop each child’s love of learning and sense of responsibility through meaningful experiences and critical inquiry. It emphasizes knowing each student deeply, using differentiated and scaffolded instruction, and combining academic rigor with social-emotional growth, Jewish values, and opportunities for real-world application and leadership. Admissions

Updated 6mo ago

For the 2026-27 school year, Rodeph Sholom School says the admissions process has five parts: attend a required open house or tour, submit the application, complete a 30-minute virtual parent meeting, schedule an in-person student visit, and provide grade-specific reports/testing materials. (rodephsholomschool.org) The school states that applications are due by December 1, 2025, with ISAAGNY-related school reports/recommendation forms due by January 8, 2026; decision/reply dates listed are February 5/12, 2026 for Kindergarten, February 11/27, 2026 for Grades 1-8, and February 26/March 5, 2026 for Twos, Threes, and Pre-K. (rodephsholomschool.org) Requirements vary by grade: Pre-K needs an ISAAGNY Pre-K confidential school report; Kindergarten and 1st Grade need the ISAAGNY K/1 report (and 1st Grade also submits prior-year and, if available, current midyear reports); Grades 2-5 need the ISAAGNY 2-5 report plus two recent school reports; Grades 5-8 require the ISEE; and Grades 6-8 also need English and Math teacher recommendation forms. (rodephsholomschool.org) The school’s priority category is its Early Notification group, which includes siblings of current students, alumni, children currently enrolled in Learning Together at Congregation Rodeph Sholom, and current Congregation Rodeph Sholom members; these families receive priority in the process, get decisions on December 5, 2025, and must reply by December 12, 2025 if accepted early. (rodephsholomschool.org) I did not find any waitlist policy on the admissions page, and searches of the school site did not surface a separate waitlist explanation. (rodephsholomschool.org)
