Teaching Approach

Updated 5mo ago

St. Paul’s describes its educational approach as student-centered and values-based: it aims to support each student’s “full journey” through innovative, responsive teaching and transformational experiences in a diverse community of belonging. Across its schools, it emphasizes whole-child development—sharpening the mind, strengthening the spirit, and challenging the body—while nurturing intellectual curiosity, confidence, and service to others. Admissions

Updated 5mo ago

St. Paul’s in Brooklandville publishes separate admissions processes for its Pre & Lower School (Pre-K–4), School for Girls (grades 5–12), and School for Boys (grades 5–12), but all begin with an inquiry form and an online parent-portal application. (stpaulsmd.org) For the currently posted 2026–27 cycle on the website, the main application deadline was December 15, 2025, and new-student tuition-assistance applications were also due December 15, 2025. (stpaulsmd.org) Requirements then vary by division: Pre & Lower requires teacher referrals by January 15, 2026, transcripts for grades 1–4 by January 15, assessments (Pre-K–1 beginning mid-October; grades 2–4 testing January 10, 2026), certain visit days, and a parent conversation, while the Boys and Girls divisions require a student visit/interview, parent interview, English and math teacher referrals by January 15, transcripts by January 15, and ISEE or HSPT testing submitted by January 15, 2026. (stpaulsmd.org) The site does not publish a formal public waitlist policy, but each division says many grades are already at capacity for 2026–27 and tells late applicants to contact admissions before applying, so late applications appear to be handled on a space-available basis. (stpaulsmd.org) I did not find a broad ranked admissions-priority list; the clearest published priority/preference items are that Pre & Lower waives the $50 application fee for siblings and alumni, and the tuition pages note “priority given” to full-day infant/toddler and preschool options.
