Teaching Approach

Updated 6mo ago

The Weiss School describes its teaching philosophy as a highly individualized, differentiated approach for gifted students that addresses each child’s challenges and strengths while promoting critical thinking, problem-solving, leadership, and global awareness. It says learning is presented in ways that match students’ learning styles and emphasize higher-order thinking and creativity within a caring, supportive environment.

Admissions

Updated 6mo ago

The Weiss School uses rolling admissions for PreK-8, reviews only completed application files, and tells families to finish all required steps and submit documents as soon as possible because many grade levels fill quickly. (weissschool.org) The published process is to schedule a campus tour with the Head of School, submit the online application with a $100 fee, complete a student visitation day, provide required records, and then select a tuition payment option if accepted. (weissschool.org) Key timing details on the site are that Jr. Pre-K students must be 3 years old by August 10, admissions decisions are typically communicated within 3-5 business days, and an enrollment contract must be returned within 7 business days. (weissschool.org) Requirements differ by grade: Early Childhood applicants need student records, must be fully potty-trained for Jr. Pre-K, and do not need IQ testing, while K-8 applicants must submit records, teacher recommendation and school-records release forms, plus IQ results showing a minimum full-scale score of 130. (weissschool.org) I did not find a formal published waitlist policy or any explicit admissions priority categories on the school's admissions pages; the closest language says qualified applicants after the first round will be considered if space remains available, and the sibling reference I found is a tuition discount rather than an admissions preference.
