Teaching Approach

Updated 8mo ago

Annapolis Area Christian School grounds its teaching and learning in Biblical truth, Christ’s redeeming grace, and the historical Christian faith, integrating Biblical principles and values throughout academics and student life. Instruction emphasizes engaged, collaborative learning that builds students’ gifts through thinking and problem-solving within a creation–fall–redemption–restoration framework. The school aims to equip students for college, career, and service through a comprehensive, progressively scaffolded curriculum in partnership with parents and the church.

Admissions

Updated 8mo ago

AACS asks prospective families to start by submitting an inquiry form and (optionally) scheduling a visit/tour or admissions event, then completing an online application through their admissions portal. To be considered complete, applications generally include the application and fee (not processed until paid), a pastor recommendation, prior school records/transcripts (typically two years for non-kindergarten applicants), teacher recommendations (two for most grades; one for kindergarten), and a birth certificate for kindergarten and 1st grade applicants; at least one parent must be an active Christian who agrees with the school’s Statement of Faith. After applying, the Admissions Office schedules required interviews (parent interview, student interview for grades 6–12) and a required “Core Distinctives” Zoom with the Head of School; admissions testing may also be required or satisfied by certain accepted standardized tests. The site lists key seasonal deadlines including applications opening Sept. 3, a Jan. 15 priority admissions deadline (after which they continue to accept applications only as space allows), acceptance notifications in mid-to-late February, and an enrollment contract/deposit deadline of March 1. If a student is placed in the school’s “Waiting Pool,” AACS says they will stay in close contact and regularly review applications as seats become available. Priority-related items explicitly noted include the Jan. 15 priority deadline and the fact that the date an application becomes fully complete is a factor in decisions, with special handling for current families adding a student (reduced requirements) and an application-fee exception for alumni children.
