Teaching Approach

Updated 6mo ago

St. Bernard’s describes its approach as a thorough, rigorous, and enjoyable introduction to learning and community life, aiming to inspire hard work, fair play, confidence, consideration for others, and citizenship. Its philosophy emphasizes both challenging boys and showing them great affection, while combining strong academics, character formation, creativity, and athletics within a nurturing school community designed for boys’ intellectual, emotional, and physical development. Admissions

Updated 6mo ago

St. Bernard’s says its main entry point is kindergarten: families apply through Ravenna with no application fee, and the kindergarten process includes a parent tour/interview, a one-on-one child interview, a classroom visit by admissions staff, and an ISAAGNY report or equivalent school report. (stbernards.org) As of March 27, 2026, the school’s website says kindergarten applications for 2026-2027 are closed; it also notes that the 2026-2027 application was posted on August 20, and that the school follows the ISAAGNY admissions calendar. (stbernards.org) For kindergarten, St. Bernard’s says it will not require or accept standardized test results. (stbernards.org) For Grades I-IX, families must contact the admissions office directly because openings only occasionally become available; those spots are filled on a rolling basis, applicants are encouraged to take the ISEE, and current-school reports/records must be sent confidentially to St. Bernard’s. (stbernards.org) The website gives priority-like early treatment to siblings and legacies through early notification, with families asked to contact admissions by December 1 if interested in early admission, but it does not describe a separate formal waitlist policy on the admissions page.
