Teaching Approach

Updated 8mo ago

Washington Christian Academy’s teaching philosophy is grounded in the historic Christian faith as expressed in Scripture and summarized in the Reformed tradition, with the goal of integrating that faith into every subject and aspect of school life. They emphasize a rigorous, interdisciplinary, college-preparatory program that teaches students to pursue truth, think critically, and engage learning in a way that exalts Christ as Creator, Redeemer, and Ruler. The school also frames education as a covenant partnership with families, aiming to develop students’ God-given abilities for faithful service in society, church, and state.

Admissions

Updated 8mo ago

Washington Christian Academy asks families to apply through its online application portal, pay a non-refundable $100 application fee (the site notes an exception for “alumni children”), and submit required items such as a birth certificate, a pastor’s recommendation, prior school records (at least two years), teacher recommendation forms, and (for grades 7–12) a student questionnaire; IEP/504 plans or other evaluations are also requested if applicable. Once the application file is complete, the admissions office reviews it and may require admission testing for grades 1–12 (or a kindergarten developmental assessment), and it also schedules a family interview with the student present. For the 2026–2027 school year, applications open October 1 and the New Family Priority Admission (and tuition assistance) deadline is January 18; decisions for priority applicants are communicated in mid-February (with February 20 noted for priority acceptance offers), and later applications are considered only if space (and tuition-assistance funds) remain until seats are filled. If a seat is not available, applicants may be placed in a “Waiting Pool,” and the school says the admissions office will remain in close contact. After acceptance, families complete enrollment steps (including setting up FACTS for billing) and pay a separate non-refundable enrollment fee (the site lists $650 per family on the Applying page, with $400 credited toward tuition if enrollment is completed by March 1, though another admissions page lists $600), with the first tuition payment due in June.
