Teaching Approach

Updated 7mo ago

Open Mind School describes its teaching approach as a personalized, inclusive model that combines evidence-based practices, sensory-motor programs, and student passion projects within a neuro-relational environment. The school emphasizes small classes, Universal Design with accommodations and push-in support, and project-based learning that encourages students to lead their own learning while building creativity, critical thinking, and resilience. Admissions

Updated 7mo ago

Open Mind School says it reviews applications on a rolling basis year-round, with the process beginning through the school site’s age-appropriate enrollment page or new-family intake/discovery-call flow, followed by an online application and fit review. (openmindschool.org) Applicants are asked to complete a discovery call or information session/tour, submit the application plus a $150 nonrefundable application and intake fee, and provide supporting records when applicable, including an IEP, prior professional evaluations, a behavior support plan, standardized testing/assessments, and a current progress report. (openmindschool.org) The review process may also include a current school observation, home or virtual family observation, on-campus shadow day(s), a family interview, a current teacher interview, and a comprehensive file review; the trans-disciplinary team and director then issue an official acceptance letter, and inactive applications are closed after 4 weeks (with families allowed to reapply). (openmindschool.org) For key dates, the website consistently says admissions are rolling, but its pages conflict on common entry points and age range: the main school page says ages 4-21 with common starts in September, December, and May, while the FAQ says ages 4-22 with common starts in August, January, and May; the FAQ also says tours are offered monthly, and the 2025-2026 calendar lists an Open House on March 2, 2026. (openmindschool.org) I did not find any published waitlist policy or admissions priority categories on the website pages reviewed; the only related note was a sibling scholarship when children enroll together, which is presented as financial aid rather than an admissions preference, and the school states it does not discriminate by race, color, or national/ethnic origin in admissions.
