CHEC’s website directs prospective families to “Enroll Now” and links to My School DC, where CHEC admissions are handled through the citywide common application/lottery (you create a My School DC family account, submit an application for your child, and can rank up to 12 schools). (checdc.org) For SY2026–27, My School DC lists the high school (grades 9–12) application deadline as February 2, 2026 and the PK3–Grade 8 deadline (which covers CHEC grades 6–8) as March 2, 2026; applicants can also update school rankings until March 13, 2026 at 5 p.m. (myschooldc.org) For CHEC 9–12, My School DC identifies it as a DCPS selective high school/program with additional requirements: submission of final SY24–25 and SY25–26 first-quarter report cards (with attendance), completion of a required student interest survey (no essay), and English and Math teacher recommendations, followed by an application review and individual interview. (myschooldc.org) For CHEC 6–8, the listed priority (lottery preference) categories are (1) Sibling Attending and (2) Sibling Offered. (myschooldc.org) If a grade has more applicants than seats, a waitlist is created and ordered first by the school’s preference groups and then by random lottery number (post-deadline applicants are added below lottery applicants within the relevant preference group and ordered by submission date); waitlists are for that school year only, and offers are time-sensitive and require enrollment steps like residency verification and required health forms.
