Teaching Approach

Updated 7mo ago

Montessori Academy of Colorado describes an authentic, child-centric Montessori education that meets each student at their own pace through personalized guidance and hands-on, experiential learning materials. It emphasizes mixed-age communities that build collaboration and leadership, while nurturing independence, responsibility, and holistic development (academic, social-emotional, and physical). The school also highlights innovative academics, character development, and a “fearless, forward” mindset, including a purpose-based middle school experience that helps students discover passions and purpose. Admissions

Updated 7mo ago

Montessori Academy of Colorado (MAC) directs families to start by submitting an inquiry form, then scheduling a tour (in-person or virtual); after touring, families are guided to submit an online application. For Nido–Primary (about 8 weeks to 4.5 years), there is a $100 nonrefundable application fee and applicants are placed in a “waitpool” (not a first-come, first-served waitlist) because MAC aims to balance age, gender, and schedule; admissions are rolling and openings can occur at any time. When a spot opens, MAC typically contacts families about 2–3 months before the desired start date, and enrollment requires accepting the offer and paying a nonrefundable enrollment fee before receiving next-step checklists and transition planning. For Kindergarten–8th grade, families may inquire, tour, and apply in any order and MAC states there is no application fee; applicants also complete a prospective student day with literacy/math/organizational assessment. For the 2025–26 K–8 cycle, MAC listed key dates of 2/6/2026 (applications due), 2/11/2026 (materials/visits completed), and decision releases on 2/20/2026 (Middle School) and 2/27/2026 (Lower School), and required materials include the application, family essay, two transcripts, any IEP/support plan, two teacher recommendations, and a student interview/writing/math assessment; MAC does not publish formal “priority categories,” instead describing review based on program/classroom balance, program needs, and fit.
