Speedway Schools assigns elementary students to their “home school” based on residence; James A. Allison Elementary serves K–6 students who live north of Crawfordsville Road (except areas assigned to Wheeler). (files.smartsites.parentsquare.com) For incoming kindergarten (Fall 2026), families are asked to attend the district’s Kindergarten Round-Up on April 21, 2026 (5:30–6:30 PM) at their assigned school, then complete in-person enrollment in July 2026; the first day of kindergarten is August 5, 2026. (speedwayschools.org) Key requirements noted by the district include being 5 years old on or before August 1, providing proof of residency (home visits may be used to verify), and having an up-to-date immunization record on file (required for enrollment). (files.smartsites.parentsquare.com) The handbook also states the district does not accept tuition/educational-guardianship students, and students under suspension/expulsion (or who withdrew to avoid expulsion) may be denied enrollment. (files.smartsites.parentsquare.com) For families seeking a different elementary than their assigned one, the district describes a transfer process intended only to equalize class sizes: requests (treated as pending in date/time order) can’t be submitted until the first day of student attendance, are reviewed after the first school week, and are granted first-come/first-served to the grade-level classroom with the lowest enrollment; no other priority categories or a separate admissions waitlist are described.
