The Montessori At Flatiron describes a child-centered Montessori approach that supports the whole child, aiming to build independence, foundational skills, empathy, confidence, and awareness of the world. Its philosophy emphasizes respecting each child’s individuality and adapting a structured learning environment to their developmental stage, interests, and strengths, with hands-on, sensory-rich experiences designed to foster curiosity, self-direction, flexible thinking, and creative problem-solving.

For The Montessori at Flatiron, families begin by submitting a campus inquiry form (or emailing the admissions office for placement questions), then submit the application, schedule a private in-person parent tour/interview, and schedule a required child visit; if the child is already in a full-time preschool, a Teacher/Mentor Evaluation must also be sent in before the application deadline. (themontessorischools.org) For the 2026-2027 cycle, Flatiron applicants for Early Decision had deadlines of September 12, 2025 (October notification, sibling applicants only), October 3, 2025 (October/November notification), and November 24, 2025 (December notification), with decision dates on October 22, November 13, and December 11, 2025; Regular Decision applications were due January 15, 2026, with notification on February 25, 2026, and all appointments due by February 9, 2026. (themontessorischools.org) The key Flatiron eligibility requirement listed is that a child must turn 2 by December 31, 2026, although the school says families may still apply later and some children can start once they reach the appropriate age, including midyear. (themontessorischools.org) The only explicit priority category I found on the school’s admissions pages is sibling applicants, who alone were eligible for the earliest October Early Decision deadline; I did not find a published waitlist policy or any broader priority-order list on the admissions process, deadlines, or FAQ pages reviewed. (themontessorischools.org) If admitted, families must return the enrollment agreement and a $10,000 tuition deposit within several days or the school will not hold the seat. Our After-Care program offers a warm and engaging environment from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m., supervised by two experienced staff members and hosted in one of our classrooms. Children enjoy outdoor time (weather permitting) and physical activity in our indoor play space, along with art activities, open-ended materials like blocks, puzzles, and rhythm instruments, and a healthy snack of fresh fruits, vegetables, and rice crackers.
