Montessori Day School of Brooklyn describes its approach as Montessori education focused on the whole child’s physical, social, emotional, and cognitive development. It emphasizes mixed-age classrooms, child choice, personalized one-to-one or small-group lessons, and hands-on, multisensory learning at each child’s own pace. The school also highlights freedom within structure, with purposeful activity and a peaceful classroom community that supports independence and self-regulation.

Montessori Day School of Brooklyn’s website says families apply online through TADS; applications cannot be mailed, applicants should choose their child’s schedule option in the form, and the application fee is non-refundable and does not guarantee placement. (montessoridayschool.org) For the 2026-2027 cycle shown on the site, applications opened September 1, 2025; applications submitted after December 31, 2025 are treated as post-deadline and reviewed as space permits; and applications received after March 31, 2026 are placed on the waitlist. (montessoridayschool.org) The listed admissions requirements are mainly that the child fit the school’s age/program groupings and that the family complete the TADS application with the requested enrollment choice: toddlers are children who will be age 2 at program start, while primary students are ages 3-5. (montessoridayschool.org) The school says September-December applications are randomly sorted and considered before later applications, then offers are made in this priority order: currently enrolled returning students, siblings of currently enrolled students, siblings of alumni, and then the general applicant pool. (montessoridayschool.org) Within the general pool, MDS also considers classroom age balance and gender balance, and families who want tuition assistance must submit a separate Clarity application by the posted aid deadline.
