Lycée Français de New York combines French and U.S. academic traditions to create a rigorous bilingual program centered on students’ learning, development, and well-being, with an emphasis on nurturing each student’s creative potential. Its approach blends project-based learning and STEAM, arts, and cultural instruction with intensive preparation for the French Baccalaureate, aiming to develop globally minded thinkers, innovators, and leaders who engage meaningfully and make a positive difference.

Admissions

Updated 8mo ago

Lycée Français de New York (LFNY) applications are submitted through its online application portal and require a non-refundable $200 application fee; the admissions process typically begins in the fall for the following school year. (lfny.org) For Fall 2026 entry, LFNY recommends applying by December 1, 2025, with all required documents due by January 16, 2026; preschool has an in-person evaluation day on January 16, 2026, and applicants to Grades 6–12 who are not in a French Ministry of Education–accredited program must take a French entrance exam on January 10, 2026. (lfny.org) Requirements highlighted include French proficiency beginning in CP/1st grade, parent/guardian interviews for CP–CM2 (Grades 1–5), and review of evaluations, interviews, and any existing school records (including report cards/recommendations for students coming from French-accredited schools). (lfny.org) Admissions decisions are shared in the first week of February 2026, and accepted families must return a signed contract with a non-refundable $4,000 tuition deposit within seven calendar days of receiving the acceptance letter. (lfny.org) LFNY states it does not give priority to early applicants or to French nationals (equal consideration is given), and it notes it may continue accepting applications through the year as space remains; the admissions pages reviewed do not publish a specific waitlist policy or other priority categories, so families should contact Admissions for current waitlist practices and any applicable priorities.
