Teaching Approach

Updated 6mo ago

Paideia describes its teaching approach as a progressive, academically rigorous education built on the belief that children are naturally curious, learn at their own pace, and thrive when learning feels joyful, supportive, and challenging. The school emphasizes team-teaching, multiage classrooms, student choice, discovery, creative expression, and warm student-teacher relationships, while also aiming to educate the whole child through values such as cooperation, ethical growth, diversity, and social responsibility.

Admissions

Updated 6mo ago

Paideia directs families to start by creating a Ravenna account to inquire, register for tours/events, and submit the application; for all applicants, the core submission includes the Shared Applicant Information Form, Paideia Parent Application, Parent Involvement Form, and application fee, and Ravenna is also used for visit registration and interview scheduling. (paideiaschool.org) For requirements, Half Day and Full Day Kindergarten applicants submit a teacher evaluation (if applicable), a program preference statement, and complete student/parent interviews; Grades 1-6 add transcripts, teacher evaluations, a principal/counselor evaluation for Grades 5-6, and interviews; Junior High/High School applicants submit a student application, transcripts, English and math evaluations, a principal/counselor evaluation, interviews, and a graded assignment for high school. (paideiaschool.org) As of March 25, 2026, Paideia says the 2026-27 regular deadlines have passed, but families may still use a Post Deadline process; the published 2026-27 key dates were Jan. 2, 2026 for Half Day applications, Feb. 1, 2026 for Half Day early notification and for Full Day K-12 plus financial aid deadlines, Feb. 10, 2026 for Half Day early reply, Apr. 4, 2026 for regular decision notifications, and Apr. 14, 2026 for reply/enrollment paperwork, with the next cycle opening in fall 2026 for 2027-28. (paideiaschool.org) Paideia says decisions are heavily constrained by space and consider age/gender balance, parent or family involvement, diversity, talents/learning styles, siblings, and children of faculty and alumni; it also says siblings receive some preference and are accepted at a higher percentage than any other category, though sibling admission is not guaranteed. (paideiaschool.org) I did not find a separate formal waitlist policy on the admissions pages I reviewed; instead, the school emphasizes that space is the main determinant in decisions and points late applicants to the Post Deadline process rather than describing a public waitlist procedure.
