PS 158’s website directs prospective families to attend a school tour (adults only; bring ID for building entry; no private tours), and lists 2026–2027 tour dates as November 13, 2025 (6:00pm), December 12, 2025 (9:00am), and January 21, 2026 (9:00am), with questions routed to the Parent Coordinator. Kindergarten admission is handled through NYC Public Schools’ centralized process: you apply in MySchools (or by phone / Family Welcome Center) and rank programs in true preference order; for Fall 2026, the application window was December 9, 2025 to January 23, 2026, with offers released March 31, 2026. PS 158 is a zoned neighborhood elementary school, so kindergarten priority is generally given first to (1) zoned students with a sibling at the school, then (2) other zoned students; if space allows, additional priorities can include district/out-of-district students with siblings, pre-K at the school, then other district students, then out-of-district students. If you miss the application deadline or want to pursue a seat after offers, you can join MySchools waitlists; waitlist order depends on the program’s admissions priorities and when you join, and if you receive a waitlist offer you typically have seven calendar days to accept. For K–5 registration at PS 158 after you receive an offer, the school states you must bring your child and bring original proof of age (birth certificate or passport), an immunization record, and two proofs of address (and documents should not be altered/redacted).
