Teaching Approach

Updated 7mo ago

Waldorf School of Baltimore describes its teaching philosophy as a whole-child, integrated education that helps children “think, feel, and act” with depth, imagination, and purpose. The school emphasizes age-appropriate, arts-integrated, and experiential learning; a low-tech, nature-connected environment in the younger years; and an interdisciplinary curriculum designed to build critical thinking, creativity, compassion, social responsibility, and a lifelong love of learning. Admissions

Updated 7mo ago

Families start by submitting the school’s inquiry form to get portal credentials, then complete the secure online application, pay the application fee, and use the portal to save progress and check status. (waldorfschoolofbaltimore.org) After the application is received, Waldorf School of Baltimore schedules a family Zoom interview with the Admission Director and a personalized campus tour, and asks the current school or daycare (if applicable) to submit a Common Referral and Transcript Release Form. (waldorfschoolofbaltimore.org) Applicant requirements vary by grade: Preschool and Kindergarten applicants attend a classroom morning visit, while Grades 1-8 are encouraged to do a two-day visit, meet with the reading and math specialist, and then have a parent meeting with the Admission Director and class teacher. (waldorfschoolofbaltimore.org) The main published timing is that admissions decisions go out in February following AIMS guidelines, and accepted families secure a spot by submitting the enrollment contract and deposit by the date listed in their offer; for families also seeking aid, financial-aid applications open December 1, are due January 5, and award notices are sent in mid-February. (waldorfschoolofbaltimore.org) I did not find a publicly posted admissions waitlist policy or admissions priority categories on the accessible admissions pages; the only explicit priority note I found was for financial aid, where returning families are given priority.
