Forest Dale Elementary enrollment is handled through Carmel Clay Schools: families complete the district’s online registration packet (PowerSchool) and are assigned to a school based on the student’s home address/attendance boundary (the district provides a boundary map and tours). (ccs.k12.in.us) Kindergarten enrollment for the 2026–2027 school year begins January 12, 2026; children are eligible for kindergarten if they turn 5 on or before August 1 of the enrolling year, with an early-entrance waiver process available (generally for students who will be 5 by October 1). (ccs.k12.in.us) Required documentation includes an official birth certificate or passport, immunization records, proof of guardianship/custody when applicable, proof of residency (housing document plus a gas/electric bill), and a parent/guardian photo ID (plus prior academic records for high school enrollees). (ccs.k12.in.us) If requesting an in-district transfer/residency exception (rather than attending the assigned boundary school), CCS states there is no guarantee of approval and that requests based on before/afterschool childcare needs will not be approved; families submit the transfer application by email and should allow 10–14 days for processing. (ccs.k12.in.us) Transfer eligibility/priority categories listed by CCS include: moving within the district during second semester and wanting to finish the year at the current school; entering 5th or 8th grade after consistently attending the school; siblings of students receiving special services at a designated school; children of CCS employees; and a specific middle-school boundary exception option (Clay Center/Cherry Tree to Carmel Middle School), with final decisions based on eligibility plus enrollment/space/programming (no formal waitlist is described).
