Teaching Approach

Updated 6mo ago

The Episcopal School describes its teaching philosophy as a traditional early childhood education delivered in a warm, welcoming, structured, and nurturing environment that supports children’s social, emotional, intellectual, and physical growth. It emphasizes age-appropriate, hands-on experiential learning, while encouraging children to become curious, responsible, and independent learners who enjoy school. The school also aims to balance a noncompetitive, supportive atmosphere with appropriate challenge so students build core values and a positive sense of themselves and learning. Admissions

Updated 6mo ago

For 2026-2027, families first request an application by completing the inquiry form starting September 3, 2025 at 8:30 a.m.; applications are then distributed on a first-come, first-served basis, and families who are offered one receive a link to create an account and submit it online. (episcopalschool.org) Applicants must meet the age rules: the child must be at least 2 years and 5 months old by August 31 of the entering year and must turn 2 by March 31 of the application year. (episcopalschool.org) After the application is received, parents are emailed instructions to schedule a parents-only tour and meeting with the Director of Admissions in October-December, followed by the child’s play visit in December-February. (episcopalschool.org) The published key dates are December 1, 2025 at 12:00 p.m. for the application deadline, February 26, 2026 for admissions notification, and March 5, 2026 at 12:00 p.m. for the parent reply deadline. (episcopalschool.org) I did not find an explicit waitlist policy on the admissions pages I reviewed; the site only states that applications are limited by capacity and distributed first-come, first-served. (episcopalschool.org) The website also has a separate Sibling Inquiry Form, which suggests siblings may receive distinct handling, but I did not find a formal published list of admissions priority categories beyond that.
