Emanuel Congregation Of The City Of New York

Temple Emanu-El describes an inclusive, joyful approach to Jewish learning rooted in Torah, relationship with God, lovingkindness, love, and gratitude. Its programs emphasize curiosity, creativity, family engagement, flexible and personalized learning pathways, and accommodations for diverse learners, while its nursery school uses a play-based curriculum to build social-emotional growth, independence, respect, empathy, and a lifelong love of learning.

Admissions are for Temple Emanu-El Nursery School; families apply by submitting the application and fee, after which they can schedule a small-group in-person tour, then an individual Zoom parent meeting with administration, and finally submit a child photo, family photo, and a short unscripted child video under two minutes. (emanuelnyc.org) Requirements include that the child be at least 2 years and 3 months old by September 30 of the year of attendance; temple membership is not required, and the school says it welcomes children from diverse ethnic, racial, and religious backgrounds. (emanuelnyc.org) For the current published cycle, applications become available August 28, 2026, are due December 4, 2026, admissions notifications are sent February 25, 2027, and replies are due March 4, 2027. (emanuelnyc.org) Early notification is available only for sibling applicants whose parents are current temple members, with an opt-in/application deadline of November 6, 2026, notification on December 9, 2026, and reply due December 16, 2026. (emanuelnyc.org) Priority categories published by the school are Congregation Emanu-El members and siblings, though member priority does not guarantee admission; the public pages reviewed do not specify a waitlist or wait-pool process.
