Berkeley-Carroll describes its teaching approach as both rigorous and joyful, centered on curiosity, creativity, and meaningful connection, with students engaging in hands-on learning, big questions, and real-world application. The school emphasizes student agency, choice, and inquiry across grades, while aiming to develop critical, ethical, and global thinkers in an environment where students feel supported, challenged, and known as individuals. Berkeley Carroll’s admissions process runs through Ravenna: families create a Ravenna account, complete the online application (including the Berkeley Carroll Core Application Form), and submit required ISAAGNY materials such as the Common Parent/Guardian Statement and teacher recommendations; need-based financial aid is optional and is submitted through Clarity (financial aid deadline listed as December 8, 2025). (berkeleycarroll.org) Open House attendance is required for Lower School families (and strongly encouraged for Grades 5–11), and interviews/visits are part of the process for many grades, with Middle/Upper School student interviews noted as invitation-only. (berkeleycarroll.org) Requirements vary by grade and can include applicant videos (early grades), report cards/transcripts, ISAAGNY essays/activity forms (Grades 5–12), and standardized testing via ISEE and/or SSAT depending on grade. (berkeleycarroll.org) Key dates shown on their admissions calendars include ISAAGNY notification dates in February 2026 (e.g., Feb 5 for Kindergarten, Feb 11 for Grades 1–8, Feb 20 for Grades 9–12, and Feb 26 for BC 3s/PreK 4) and reply deadlines ranging from Feb 12 (Kindergarten) through Mar 12 (Grades 9–12), all with a noon deadline where specified. (berkeleycarroll.org) The site states priority is given to siblings of current students and to children of alumni, faculty, and staff; it also notes some components (like interviews) depend on space, that the process may close early if applications exceed interview capacity (after which applications may be accepted by invitation only), and it does not publicly spell out a formal admissions waitlist/wait-pool policy beyond space-availability language.
