For Pre-K entry in fall 2026 (2026–2027 school year), NYCPS lists the application window as January 14, 2026 to February 27, 2026, with offers released May 12, 2026; eligibility is NYC children born in 2022, and families can apply online in MySchools, by phone (718-935-2009), or at a Family Welcome Center. When programs have more applicants than seats, NYCPS uses admissions priority groups (varies by program) and then random numbers within a priority group; common priority categories include current student (for Pre-K), sibling, zoned address, district residence, and (where applicable) Diversity in Admissions priorities—confirm the exact order for M038 in the MySchools program card. After offers, waitlists are used to fill openings: students are automatically waitlisted for any higher-ranked choices than their offer, families can also add themselves to additional waitlists in MySchools, and waitlist offers follow the same priority rules.
